When installing DragonDictate onto a computer that has IE4 already installed then the following error message is displayed :

DSHELL An error has occurred in your program.

Subsequent attempts to install DragonDictate result in a Bindtime error relating to the INSTALLBASEFILEMAP.

These problems are only encountered if the installation of IE4 included the 'Windows Desktop Update' (also commonly known as the 'Active Desktop').

The installation program for DragonDictate is able to install all the system files but the above error messages appear when the system attempts to create the program group and program icons.

SOLUTION

Right Click on your desktop, Click "New", Click "Shortcut" ,then browse to the "c:\ddwin2" directory and double click the "voicebar.exe" program.

You can now drag and drop the shortcut to your start menu or just run it from the desktop. Voicebar.exe is the file that will start Dragon Dictate.
